According to the Bible, the apostles also understood the authority of the Scriptures. Paul, the scholarly apostle, used Old Testament passages to reason with the Jews (Acts 17:2). Peter stated, "[I]gnorant and unstable people distort" Scriptures "to their own destruction" (2 Peter 3:16). Since it is thought to be God-breathed, the Bible is considered indisputable.
There are those who do not believe that the Bible is inspired by God. They believe there are historical and scientific errors within the text that disprove this assertion. Whatever your beliefs, the Bible itself does hold that the words therein are inspired, or "breathed," by God.
